Unlock the power of passive fundraising.

THE CHALLENGE

Harnessing the power of distributed computing on behalf of worthwhile charitable organizations and causes around the world.

THE SOLUTION

Londonderry, N.H., native Russ Willey, Founder and CEO of myGivmo, drew inspiration from the pioneering spirit of SETI@home. A  groundbreaking project based at UC Berkeley, SETI@home used the power of distributed computing in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Participants from all over the globe contributed by running a program that processed radio telescope data, effectively turning their personal computers into nodes of a virtual supercomputer. Through the collective effort of many computers dividing and conquering the task (much like an army of ants), more data was collected and analyzed than any one supercomputer could handle.

Today, there are several distributed computing projects on the Internet that help work on complex problems by sharing the processing power of millions of different computers. From mapping the human genome to searching for extraterrestrial life, you need only to download a small program that runs in the background of your computer to participate.

Inspired by these programs, Russ found a way to bring distributed computing to the charitable fundraising sector. His Microsoft-trusted myGivmo app transforms the ordinary computers of supporters and followers into powerful fundraising tools, collectively generating passive income on behalf of a cause around the clock. It’s as easy as downloading the app, entering the unique code for a chosen cause or individual, and letting myGivmo do its thing. Every minute a machine is on and running a code, the myGivmo app is hard at work in the background, verifying blockchain transactions and earning rewards for that cause. Those rewards add up and get passed on to the chosen cause or individual. Think of it as virtual can collecting or a virtual piggy bank that keeps giving back. The best part? It's all passive income that is raised, so there is no added financial burden to your supporters and followers. They never need to open their wallet or provide a credit card. The computer does all the heavy lifting! The app is safe, simple, and seamless. It is free to use, runs in the background, and does not impact the computer’s performance in any way.

The Results

The Granite State United Way Ukrainian Relief Fund, one of the first charities listed on our platform, received a $122 check from myGivmo after just one full month of operation.

During that month, myGivmo averaged 50 daily users running the app on the charity’s behalf, each generating about $2.50 per month, or $29.16 per year, totaling $1,500 of extra annual income!

The Potential

As more users are added and charities spread the word among supporters, the possibilities are limitless.

Using the Ukrainian Relief Fund as a baseline, here’s a projection of how much could be raised passively in one year:
